50 Passenger Bus | Bus and Limos
The Right Size for Mid-Size Groups
A 50 passenger bus is a full-size charter coach that seats up to 50 riders, with forward-facing reclining seats, overhead racks, under-floor storage and a licensed commercial driver. It is the sweet spot for groups that are too big for a shuttle bus but do not need every seat of our largest coach, which makes it a favorite for day trips, weddings and local events.
You get one pickup time, one arrival and one point of contact for the whole day. Bus And Limos has arranged group transportation in the Bay Area since 1997, and our team will match the coach to your headcount and route. Questions? Call (925) 315-7150.

What Makes a 50 Passenger Bus Different?
Short answer: it has the comfort of a full-size coach, with high seats, big windows and luggage space under the floor, in a size built for groups of roughly 35 to 50. Shuttle buses have a lower floor and smaller storage, while a 56 seat coach gives you a few extra seats you may not need. For most weddings, school trips and wine tours, 50 seats is the most practical choice.
50 vs 56 Passenger Coach: Which Should You Book?
| 50 passenger bus | 56 passenger coach | |
|---|---|---|
| Ideal headcount | 35–50 guests | 50–56 guests |
| Best for | Day trips, weddings, local events | Tours and long highway trips |
| Luggage | Under-floor bays + overhead racks | Under-floor bays + overhead racks |
| Spare seats | Room for bags and coats on board | Every seat usually filled |

Smaller group? A mini coach or 36 passenger shuttle bus can save money without losing comfort.

Planning a Napa or Sonoma Wine Tour for 40–50 Guests
- Book tastings first. Most wineries need advance reservations for large groups, and some limit how many guests they host at once.
- Confirm coach parking. Not every winery allows full-size buses. We check access for each stop on your list.
- Plan 2–3 wineries. With a group this size, three stops plus lunch fills a comfortable 7–8 hour day.
- Keep it responsible. Drinks are for guests 21 and over only. Ask us about our onboard beverage policy when you book.
Wedding Guest Shuttles With One Coach
A single 50 seat bus can loop between hotels and your venue so guests arrive together, skip the parking hunt and get home safely after the last dance. Share your hotel list and ceremony time and we will suggest pickup waves. Pair it with a wedding limo for the couple.
How Many Hours Should You Book?
| Trip type | Typical booking |
|---|---|
| Cruise or airport group transfer | One-way transfer or 3–4 hours |
| Wedding guest shuttle | 5–7 hours |
| Game day or concert | 5–6 hours |
| School field trip | 6–8 hours |
| Wine country tour | 7–9 hours |
Minimum hours can be higher on Saturdays and holidays. Your quote will show the exact time and cost.
When to Book Your Bus
For regular weekdays, 2–4 weeks is usually enough. Book 6–10 weeks ahead for wine harvest season (August–October), wedding season (May–October), graduation and prom (April–June) and December holiday parties, when coaches sell out first.
What to Ask Before You Book Any Charter Bus
- Is the company licensed with the CPUC and U.S. DOT?
- What is and is not included: tolls, parking, driver gratuity, overtime?
- Can the coach reach every stop, including wineries and narrow streets?
- Is a wheelchair-accessible coach available if a guest needs one?
We answer all of these in writing with your quote. Contact our team or call (925) 315-7150.
